The National Asset Centre of Excellence (NACOE) have released a recent webinar summarising the results of their trials into recycled concrete, recycled asphalt, and coal combustion products (CCPs).
NACOE research findings from September 2023 shine a spotlight on the opportunities to use sustainable alternatives to conventional quarry materials in major projects.
This work is a strategic step towards better balancing the imminent demand for millions of tonnes of conventional quarry materials and aggregates all over the country with recycled materials.
The ADAA are research partners and financial contributors with NACOE and this study.
Analysis was undertaken for fly ash, bottom ash, and pond ash (collectively known as CCPs) from six different Queensland Power Stations (including Stanwell Power Station).
The experimental findings verify that CCPs:
- cause no issues of concern for human health or the environment.
- have application in enclosed embankment and drainage works.
- Planning for CCP field trials is underway (currently planned for Southeast Queensland).
